Responsibilities
  1. Manage and supervise the team to ensure high-quality service to children, focusing on good outcomes with timely interventions within statutory guidelines, resource, and budget constraints.
  2. Model good management by taking professional responsibility for providing a high-quality and responsive service.
  3. Assist the Team Manager in setting priorities and, through effective management and supervision of social care staff, ensure children are safeguarded and their welfare promoted.
  4. Help initiate and implement operational business plans, legislation, and policy guidance to deliver the Council's priorities.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  1. Work in accordance with legislation, guidance, and protocols, understanding how your role contributes to outcomes for children and families.
  2. Conduct investigations using information from various sources, including direct contact with families, children, and professionals, to assess support and actions needed.
  3. Provide guidance, supervision, and support to practitioners to prevent family breakdown or escalation of issues/risk, ensuring all advice is accurately recorded.
  4. Motivate and develop the team through learning opportunities to meet service objectives.
  5. Develop relationships and share information across teams to enhance decision-making for the child's best interests.
  6. Represent the team at internal and external meetings with voluntary, partner, and statutory bodies where appropriate.
  7. Contribute to and participate in personal development programs.
  8. Undertake any other duties as required by the Team Manager.
Requirements
  1. HCPC-recognized social work qualification and HCPC registration.
  2. Understanding of early help services and ability to identify children and families who would benefit from early help.
  3. Knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and policies related to Social Care and Early Help services.
  4. Commitment to multi-agency working to promote better outcomes for children and families.
  5. Ability to analyze and evaluate information to determine risk and support levels for children and families.
  6. Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months; being on the update service may expedite the recruitment process.
