About the Role

The Permanence Support Team is a specialist team providing post-order support to adopters, Special Guardians, their children, adults affected by adoption, and birth families. The team is friendly, supportive, hardworking, and committed to adoption work. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in adoption and permanence to further their career and expertise. You will join a supportive team of aspirational, creative, and committed Social Workers who strive to provide the best outcomes for adopted and Special Guardianship children.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Assisting the Team Managers in the operational management of the team, ensuring high standards of service.
2. Ensuring services to users are delivered and developed according to Adopt Thames Valley policies, procedures, and guidance.
3. Planning and delivering services that maximize participation and reflect Children's Rights, considering how Children, Young People, and Families are engaged.
4. Providing case supervision to social workers.

This post holder is responsible for ensuring adherence to Safeguarding and Child Protection policies and raising concerns in accordance with these policies.

About you

Are you a passionate, qualified social worker with experience in adoption and team management, or have the skills to move into team management? Are you interested in exploring different ways of working in this field?

We are ideally seeking an Assistant Team Manager with at least three years of post-qualifying experience in adoption, with relevant work settings such as Children’s Services or Family Placement. The candidate should have excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills. Experience in supervising or mentoring staff within this setting will be beneficial.

The applicant should demonstrate a good understanding of the needs of adoptive families and be keen to develop their knowledge and skills further. The successful candidate must also be computer literate.
