Job summary

Freedom Leisure’s Stone Leisure Centre, in partnership with Stafford Borough Council, seeks an Assistant Swim Teacher to help deliver swimming lessons to customers of all ages and abilities, ensuring they feel supported and achieve their goals.

You’ll join a friendly team, with full training provided, in a casual role that includes mornings and evenings across 7 days a week. DBS checked or willing to obtain, Level 1 qualification preferred.

Qualifications

• Assisting children and adults as part of the swimming lesson programme.
• Excellent communication with parents/guardians about progression.
• Ability to supervise pool area ensuring safety and discipline.
• DBS check completed or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Support Swim Teachers in delivering lessons to customers of all ages.

Come and join our friendly and professional Swim Teacher Team at Stone Leisure Centre, in partnership with Stafford Borough Council, our centre provides swimming lessons over 7 days a week, to include mornings and evenings, as well as having an onsite Costa, 2 class studios, MyRide studios and a state-of-the-art gym.

In the role of Assistant Swim Teacher, you will be helping our Swim Teachers to deliver lessons to customers of all ages and abilities ensuring they feel supported and are achieving their goals.

If you like talking to people, this is definitely the role for you. We understand that engaging with customers and colleagues is not as easy as it sounds and sometimes comes with experience. We will provide all the training needed to be a successful Swim Teacher but we also believe that employing people from a mix of employment backgrounds can offer a wider benefit to our team, some of which might be in their first ever job and need more support from their manager and colleagues.

Hours: Casual, as and when required.

Requirements

• To assist children and/or adults as part of the Leisure Centre’s swimming lesson programme, according to qualification, training and experience
• To communicate with the children’s parents/guardians concerning their development, and advise on their progression through the programme
• To assist in the supervision of customers in the swimming pool and surrounds, ensuring their safety and discipline
• Excellent communication skills with a genuine desire to work closely with customers.
• An ability to deal with children and their parents
• Level 1 Swim Teaching qualification or willingness to gain the qualification
• Enhanced DBS check

Salary: up to £12.71 per hour
