Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support daily store operations, customer service, and team development. You will aid in staff supervision, merchandise handling, and ensuring smooth, compliant store performance.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and prior retail management experience, with strong communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to lift up to 55 lbs and work in a busy environment is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs., stand, walk, and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment with excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions.
• Organize, transfer merchandise from delivery to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and other communications related to store activities.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged goods, record keeping, and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Keep the store clean, restock bathrooms, sweep/mop floors, take out trash, and keep areas neat.
