Job summary

Fawkes & Reece Group is seeking an experienced Assistant Site Manager for a large-scale new-build housing development in the Midlands, based in Telford. The role is initially short-term with potential for long-term tenure for the right candidate.

You will work closely with the Site Manager to ensure on-programme delivery, uphold safety standards, and maintain high-quality workmanship across the development. Essential field experience and a strong leadership capability are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience on large-scale new-build housing developments.
• Assistant Site Manager experience within new build housing.
• Experience with traditional build and timber frame construction.
• SMSTS preferred, SSSTS considered.
• Valid CSCS card.
• Strong understanding of residential construction, health & safety and site procedures.
• Experience coordinating subcontractors and trades.
• Knowledge of build programmes and quality control.
• Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a busy, high-volume housebuilding environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with day-to-day management of the development under the Site Manager.
• Coordinate subcontractors and trades and monitor progress.

Job description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Assistant Site Manager to join a respected and well-established housebuilder in the Midlands, working on a large-scale new-build housing development in Telford.

This is initially a short-term opportunity, with the potential for the right candidate to move into a long-term position.

Experience within large-scale new-build housing developments is essential. We are looking for someone who has a strong background in private housebuilding and is confident working in a fast-paced, volume-build environment.

The Role

Working closely with the Site Manager, you will assist with the day-to-day management of the development, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.

You will be responsible for supporting the coordination of subcontractors and trades, monitoring progress, maintaining health & safety standards and ensuring work is completed in line with the company's high-quality requirements.

Requirements

Essential: Proven experience on large-scale new-build housing developments

Previous experience as an Assistant Site Manager within new build housing

Experience with both traditional build and timber frame construction

SMSTS preferred, although SSSTS will be considered

Valid CSCS card

Strong understanding of residential construction, health & safety and site procedures

Experience coordinating subcontractors and trades

Good knowledge of build programmes, quality control and site management
