We are
looking to strengthen our Construction team with an Assistant Site Engineer based in the Severn Trent region.
Role Overview
You will report directly to the Site Manager, supporting the Site Engineer and Engineering team. Your responsibilities will include setting out, monitoring, and communicating engineering requirements to the workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that sufficient information is available on drawings and sketches to set out the works according to the programme, resolving any inconsistencies and providing feedback on changes.
- Set out the works in accordance with contract requirements before work begins, allowing time for independent checks.
- Provide simplified productivity measures based on the weekly programme and feedback actual programme and productivity to the engineer.
- Communicate effectively with foremen, gangers, workforce, and sub-contractors to ensure understanding of information provided.
- Check the works during progress and upon completion to ensure conformity with setting-out information, measuring and signing off before covering up, and passing information to QS and QA teams.
- Report non-conformances and instructions received from clients, designers, or RE staff to the engineer.
- Take off and measure site materials for controlled use.
- Maintain a full, accurate daily site diary, including changes, variations, subcontractors’ attendance, and work-related discussions.
- Adhere to Skanska policies and procedures.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
- At least 3 GCSEs in Mathematics, English, and Science
- Computer skills in MS Word and Excel
- Relevant CSCS Card
- Training in Health & Safety and Environmental Management
- Previous construction experience
Desirable Qualifications
- Vocational training as a chain person
- CITB apprenticeship
- BETEC, HNC, or HND qualifications
