Job summary

Bayne’s the Family Bakers is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager for our Hamilton shop. The role covers 39 hours per week with variable shifts including weekends, from early morning until around 5 pm.

You will support the shop manager with daily operations, rostering, and staff induction while ensuring top customer service and hygiene standards. The ideal candidate has supervisory or management experience and a passion for retail in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory or management experience is required.
• Experience in retail supervisory role is ideal.

Responsibilities

• Ensure consistent excellent customer service within the shop.
• Assist the shop manager with operational standards.
• Assist in accurate scheduling (colleague rotas).
• Support new colleagues with induction and training.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, diligence, and health and safety.
• Maintain high shop standards and product quality.
• Assist with cash handling and security processes.
• Hands-on involvement in serving, baking off, and making filled rolls and drinks.
