Job summary

Willen Hospice in Milton Keynes is seeking an Assistant Shop Manager to support the Shop Manager at our Oxley Park shop for a fixed term of 9 months. You will lead volunteers, drive sales performance, and ensure excellent customer service in a busy charity retail environment.

You’ll assist with stock, pricing, merchandising and daily shop operations, while handling cash and maintaining records in line with charity procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in a retail environment, ideally in a supervisory or team leader role.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team and deliver high levels of customer service.
• Confident handling money, stock, and shop operations.
• Flexible to work weekends and cover shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist in daily shop operations to meet sales targets and KPIs.
• Support stock processing, pricing, merchandising, and presentation.
• Maintain high standards of customer service at all times.
• Supervise volunteers, supporting recruitment, training, and coordination.
• Manage rotas and daily tasks with the Shop Manager.
• Handle cash, banking and financial records per charity procedures.
• Act as key holder, opening/closing the shop and covering Manager's absence.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and security policies.
• Promote Willen Hospice values and fundraising initiatives locally.
