Job description

Job Description

The post holder will provide administrative support to Surgical Services, assisting in the delivery of operational and clinical performance. This includes ensuring adherence to administrative processes and working closely with teams such as consultants, medical secretaries, booking teams, outpatient reception, and nursing staff.

The post holder may also deputise for the Service Manager in managing operational duties when required and will work cross-site.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Attend and document weekly team meetings, relaying relevant information to appropriate teams.
  2. Maintain accurate records of all absences, medical and non-medical, following Trust policies.
  3. Review and improve administrative processes regularly.
  4. Prioritise workload to meet service and divisional deadlines.
  5. Assist in the induction and ongoing training of administrative staff.
  6. Ensure staff record and validate data accurately, adhering to national guidelines and targets, including 18-week pathways and access standards.
  7. Validate and report on cancellations on a daily/weekly basis.
  8. Ensure administrative teams are aware of relevant Trust policies and procedures.
  9. Support the development and implementation of new processes to improve patient experience.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Validate and cleanse weekly 18-week data, highlighting potential breaches in line with government targets.
  • Manage workload distribution within the department, initiating improvements as needed.
