Job summary

FERA SCIENCE LTD is seeking an Assistant Scientist to prepare and extract samples for chemical analysis by the internal LC-MS team. You will manage your time using established wet chemistry methods, submit batches daily, and support team operations, quality, and H&S as needed.

You will log samples on the LIMS system, perform pre-extraction steps, and assist in routine lab tasks while following SOPs and quality standards. Physical lab work and occasional long hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience with sample extraction and wet chemistry methods.
• Familiarity with ISO 17025 or GLP quality systems.
• Ability to work in a laboratory and handle animal products.
• Good organisation and time management.

Responsibilities

• Log samples onto the LIMS system and prepare pre-extraction samples.
• Extract and clean up samples for chemical analysis.
• Support daily operation of laboratories, housekeeping and equipment calibration.
• Follow quality assurance and safety procedures.
• Write and follow SOPs and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Perform routine methodical tasks and manage time under deadlines.
