We have a vacancy for an Assistant Research Professor (Grade 9) to work in the group led by Professor Stephen Jenkins.
Professor Jenkins has been appointed as Co-Head of the Yusuf Hamied Department of Chemistry from October 2026, and we seek a suitably qualified individual to help run his research group and cover some of his teaching commitments during his first three years in this post.
Applications are invited from post-doctoral chemists with an extensive knowledge of surface physics and chemistry, significant practical knowledge of first-principles density functional theory using the CASTEP computer code, experience in the day-to-day supervision of graduate students, and a track record in teaching physical chemistry at undergraduate level. The post holder will be expected to work closely and interactively with Professor Jenkins, and to combine excellent communication skills with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
