Assistant Quantity Surveyor - Housing Refurbishment

Location: Bolton | Salary: 28,000 - 38,000 + package

Responsibilities
  • Assisting in the preparation and management of project budgets, cost plans, and financial reports.
  • Supporting with the tendering, procurement, and appointment of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assisting in the preparation of valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
  • Monitoring costs on site and ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Supporting senior surveyors with contract administration and compliance.
  • Attending site meetings and liaising with project teams to ensure cost efficiency and progress.
  • Gaining exposure to variations, change control, and risk management processes.
  • Developing technical knowledge of construction contracts, such as JCT and NEC.
Qualifications
  • A degree (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline.
  • Some experience in construction, ideally within housing, refurbishment, or planned maintenance, is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • A keen willingness to learn and progress within the commercial field.
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently when required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
