Job Description: Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Royaume-Uni

Equans has a new opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor within our Digital business unit, delivering critical Building Management System (BMS) infrastructure upgrades across various sectors including commercial, retail, healthcare, education, and government nationwide. This role involves supporting the transition of sites to become Smart-enabled, enabling further value through IoT solutions that benefit communities and the environment.

Role overview

The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will assist in the commercial delivery of multiple contracts, working closely with senior team members and project teams within Smart Buildings. The focus will be on risk and opportunity management, compliance, and ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Key activities

  1. Financial Reporting: Support the creation and review of project cost variance reports, forecasts, and cash flow management, ensuring adherence to budgets.
  2. Estimating: Develop estimates with input from experts, support tender document creation, and identify value management opportunities during pre-contract stages.
  3. Commercial Negotiation: Manage payment processes, prepare and review key documents, and support dispute risk management. Assist in developing procurement schedules and project plans.
  4. Contract knowledge: Understand various contract models (JCT, NEC, etc.), assist in drafting and interpreting contracts, and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  5. Be qualified or working towards qualification as a Quantity Surveyor.
  6. Have solid experience as an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, with site experience preferred.
  7. Support and advise on commercial strategy, maintaining alignment with business objectives.
  8. Communicate effectively with site teams, contractors, and external parties to manage project progress and resolve issues.
  9. Present information clearly, both orally and in writing.
  10. Work in a quality-focused environment, adhering to systems and procedures, with a focus on continual improvement.
  11. Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks, demonstrating strong analytical skills.
