Are you a graduate or expecting to graduate soon with a degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management? Looking to kick-start your QS career with a company that truly values personal growth and professional development?

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our young, dynamic team. As a family-run main contractor with 25 years of successful trading, we take a personable, hands-on approach to everything we do. You'll be fully supported in your role and given opportunities to grow and progress within the business.

21st Century Building Services is a main contractor based in Bedminster, Bristol, operating across the South West. We deliver high-quality refurbishment, new build, fit-out, and extension works across all sectors.

With over two decades of experience, we’ve built strong relationships with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners. You’ll gain great exposure to a wide variety of project types, complexities, and stakeholders, providing the perfect foundation for a long-term career in commercial management.

As an Assistant QS, you’ll support our Commercial Manager and Surveyors across the full project lifecycle — from pre-construction and tendering through to final accounts. You’ll be involved in both office-based and on-site work, gaining real insight into how commercial decisions drive project success, while developing your technical and professional capabilities.

• Assist in preparing cost plans, estimates, and tender submissions
• Support procurement and subcontractor management
• Attend site visits, valuations, and progress meetings
• Help track variations, manage cost control, and produce financial reports
• Collaborate with site and project teams to ensure best commercial outcomes
• Manage Multiple Projects Simultaneously

What We’re Looking For

• BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management (or working towards it)
• Strong numeracy, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational abilities
• Confident communicator – both written and verbal
• A proactive, team-oriented approach with a willingness to learn
• Good IT skills (especially Excel and MS Office)
• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Full UK driving licence
