Job summary

Gleeson Homes is recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor in Nottingham to support the Regional Commercial team with budgets, expenditures and reporting. You will assist in commercial activities across developments, work with subcontractors and external partners, and help shape project start programs while gaining mentorship within a growing team.

The role emphasizes collaboration, attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning, under a structure that includes a Managing Quantity

Qualifications

• A relevant qualification or basic understanding of the role of Quantity Surveying
• A basic understanding of the financial implications of the methods and sequences of build
• Basic Finance/Commercial awareness and Technical knowledge
• Basic knowledge of the Construction Industry
• Basic knowledge of commercial and financial management systems and controls
• Awareness of codes of practice that impact on commercial matters e.g. Building Regulations, NHBC requirements, HSE etc
• Knowledge of Construction Design Management Regulations
• The desire and determination to work collaboratively and progress as a team

Responsibilities

• Supporting management and reporting.
• Assisting the commercial team and following group policies and processes.
• Helping manage the relationships with subcontractors, housing associations and external partners.
• You’ll be key in helping determining and agreeing site start programs and assisting with commercial matters for new and existing developments.
• Partaking in site visits, including not only the current and new sites, but also potential sites, seeing the future of Gleeson Homes.

Gleeson Homes are recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to assist the Regional Commercial team, delivering the Group Business plan, Commercial objectives, budgets and future growth requirements by being involved in commercial activities; supporting the implementation, control and reporting of all development/build-related expenditure. We're looking for someone who is passionate about working with colleagues within the region and across different disciplines with a keen attention to detail and accuracy when conducting the valuation process. The suitable person will be someone who wants to proactively contribute to our mission of changing lives, by building affordable, quality homes, where they are needed, for the people who need them the most. As an assistant, you will be given ample opportunities to learn new skills and develop your career journey at Gleeson Homes. Our teams are structured with a Commercial Director, a Managing Quantity Surveyor, a Senior and Quantity Surveyors – giving you the experience and mentorship to further develop.
