Job summary

Galliford Try Group is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team focused on South East regional projects. Based in or around Essex, you will travel across multiple sites and support cost reporting, subcontract procurement and value management.

You will hold a degree and be working toward RICS or IOB membership, with experience in main contracts (JCT/NEC). The role offers a strong benefits package and a culture of development within a leading contractor.

• Sound knowledge of JCT and NEC Conditions of Contract.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creating a safe working environment.
• Use Oracle tools to report cost and value to the business unit.
• Interpret and evaluate expenditure reports from internal cost systems.
• Support subcontract procurement including bid enquiries and bid evaluation.
• Prepare subcontract documentation.
• Administer subcontract works packages including interim assessments and change management.
• Assist in producing commercial notices and compensation event quotations.
• Support monthly payment applications to the Client.

Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Essex

An opportunity has arisen for an AssistantQuantity Surveyorto join the team at Galliford Try.

Ideally, you will based in or around the South East and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

What you will be doing:

• Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.
• Use the latest Oracle software tools to accurately report cost and value to the business unit.
• Interpret and critically evaluate expenditure reports produced by internal cost systems.
• Be involved in the procurement of Subcontract partners including preparation of bid enquiry documentation and critical evaluation of bids.
• Produce Subcontract documentation.
• Apply the principles of ‘Doing the right thing’ in maximising value and profit.
• Administration of subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and change management.
• Assist in the production and issue of commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract and the law.
• Assist in the management of change in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations and the maintenance of detailed schedules of value.
• Provide information to the Commercial team to assist in the production of monthly payment applications to the Client.

About You:

• You will have experience of working within the Construction industry for a main contractor, specifically on Design and Build; as well as sound knowledge of JCT and NEC Conditions of Contract.
• The ability to work independently as well as within a team is essential.
• You will be degree qualified and member of the RICS or IOB (or moving towards professional membership).
