We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team within Vistry East Yorkshire, at our office in Leeds. As our Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will report to the Commercial Manager and will assist in the commercial delivery of residential development schemes. You will support the Surveying department with cost management for development and contracting projects from procurement to the completion of sub-contract final accounts. This is a key role, and the successful candidate will have worked in a similar role for a main contractor or developer within the region.

Minimum Requirements:
- HNC in Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or equivalent
- Experience within the construction industry as a Quantity Surveyor
- Excellent IT, analytical, and communication skills
- Strong mathematical ability
- Understanding of budget management
- Negotiating and networking skills
- Familiarity with construction contracts, including standard forms
- Ability to work within a busy team and under pressure
- Knowledge of different construction methods (e.g., Timber Frame, Traditional Masonry)
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend site pre-start meetings to understand construction issues with the Commercial Manager
- Assist in compiling tender packages for subcontract trades
- Receive and analyze tenders, comparing levels
- Assist with issuing subcontract orders in accordance with policies and within budget and schedule
- Liaise with the Build Department on subcontractor performance and compliance
- Produce and adjudicate subcontract orders and final accounts
- Provide forecast and site budget information to meet reporting requirements
- Control and report post-contract cost movements
- Process invoices and applications for payments according to contract terms
- Use COINS software for project administration tasks
- Settle variation invoices and assist with retention releases
- Maintain filing systems and follow training plans for self-development
- Participate in departmental meetings and communicate effectively with colleagues
- Adhere to health and safety policies and attend training
- Work closely with project teams to minimize variations and ensure contract compliance
- Complete monthly CVRs, manage budgets, and report costs
- Lead commercial activities with clients, including valuations and cash flow forecasts
