Randstad CPE is recruiting for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on a permanent basis. The role supports post-tender cost control, procurement and final account activities within a hybrid working model (3 days in the office, 2 days from home).

Salary is 30,000 per annum, dependent on experience, with ASAP start. You will work alongside experienced quantity surveyors and commercial managers, assisting with procurement, valuations and cost reporting to help drive project

Qualifications

• Post-graduate degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management is required.
• 1–3 years of solid hands-on commercial experience with a Main Contractor is preferred.
• Strong commercial knowledge, including contracts, take-offs, site measurements and cost control.
• Excellent MS Excel skills, and clear communication abilities with site teams and subcontractors.
• Available to start ASAP.

About the Client

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Main Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across multiple sectors. Due to continued project wins and ongoing growth, they are looking for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

The Role

Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will play an active role in managing project costs, commercial administration, and subcontractor procurement from post-tender stage through to final accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assisting with subcontractor package procurement and commercial evaluations.
• Conducting site valuations, measuring completed works, and preparing monthly progress valuations.
• Supporting the management of project variations, compensation events, and final account negotiations.
• Maintaining accurate cost reports, tracking budget variances, and preparing cash flow forecasts.
• Collaborating closely with site management, project managers, clients, and supply chain partners.

Candidate Requirements

• Education & Experience: Post-graduate degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management OR a few years (1-3 years) of solid hands-on commercial experience.
• Main Contractor Background: Direct experience working with a Main Contractor is essential.
• Commercial Knowledge: Strong understanding of standard form contracts, take-offs, site measurements, and cost management.
• Technical & Soft Skills: Proficient in MS Excel, strong analytical abilities, and clear communication skills to liaise with site teams and subcontractors.
• Availability: Ready to start ASAP.
