Job summary

Randstad Construction and Property is seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS) to join the commercial team on a variety of construction projects. The role offers a hybrid setup (3 days in the office, 2 days at home) and is a full-time, permanent position starting ASAP.

You will support with costs, procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts, delivering accurate cost reports and cash flow forecasts while working closely with site teams and clients.

Qualifications

• Education & experience: Post-graduate degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management or 1–3 years of hands-on commercial experience.
• Main Contractor background: direct experience with a Main Contractor is essential.
• Commercial knowledge: strong understanding of standard form contracts, take-offs, site measurements, and cost management.
• Technical & soft skills: proficient in MS Excel, strong analytical abilities, and clear communication with site teams and subcontractors.
• Availability: ready to start ASAP.

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Main Contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across multiple sectors. Due to continued project wins and ongoing growth, they are looking for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

The Role

Working alongside experienced Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers, you will play an active role in managing project costs, commercial administration, and subcontractor procurement from post-tender stage through to final accounts.

Key Responsibilities:
