Job summary

Lancer Scott Ltd. seeks a Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team. You will contribute to cost planning, tendering, and commercial management on projects up to £3m, across education, health, retail and commercial spaces.

Based in the UK, the role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with site managers, clients and contractors. Travel to sites will be required.

Responsibilities

• Review construction plans, providing detailed quantity and cost requirements.
• Collaborate with site managers, clients, consultants, contractors and subcontractors.
• Support site-based contract staff and oversee validation, valuation and forecasting.
• Estimate and provide WIP support on SOR-based Facilities Management contracts.
• Complete labour loading and pricing schedules for tender returns.
• Prepare reports, analysis, contracts, budgets, risk assessments and other documents.
• Document design changes promptly and update budgets accordingly.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders for effective execution.
• Travel to sites to oversee progress and address on-site challenges.

Contribute to the success of a variety of projects ranging in value and sectors. You'll need to have strong analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail to enhance our project management capabilities. You will play a key role in analysing budgets, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring the successful execution of a variety of projects.

What will be my core responsibilities?

• Assist the review of construction plans, providing detailed quantity and cost requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders including site managers, clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
• Provide support to site based contract staff and oversee the validation, valuation and forecasting process on a range of projects across education, healthcare, retail and commercial spaces.
• Estimating and WIP support on SOR based Facilities Management contracts.
• Complete labour loading and pricing schedules for tender returns.
• Support the preparation of comprehensive reports, analysis, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other essential documents.
• Document changes in design promptly, updating budgets to reflect modifications accurately.
• Establish and foster professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders to facilitate effective project execution.
• Travel to various sites as required to oversee project progress and address on-site challenges.

What skills and experience do I need to be successful in this role?

• A sound knowledge and experience of project cost and commercial management in projects up to £3m in value.
• Excellent attention to detail especially when working with costs and measurements.
• An ability to organise, plan and prioritise to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Proven ability to build and maintain a network of professional relationships.
• Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• A valid driver's license and willingness to travel as necessary.

You will ideally have:

• Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
• Construction estimating experience within the UK construction or facilities management industry.
