Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our team. This role supports the commercial function on our projects, working closely with the Quantity Surveying team. You will assist in delivering key duties while developing your skills in a collaborative environment.

Our project involves repurposing the historic Brabazon Hangars into a new venue for Bristol, celebrating the city's history and future.

What you'll do

1. Pre-Construction Phase:
   • Prepare subcontract tender enquiry documentation
   • Identify and engage with Supply Chain Partners
   • Prepare subcontract and supplier tender lists
   • Define 'Scope of Work' with the delivery team
   • Attend pre-tender and mid-bid interviews to communicate project details
   • Contribute to preliminaries assessment and risk register
   • Collaborate with design managers on value engineering opportunities
   • Review bids and perform tender analysis
   • Draft tender reports and assist in subcontract documentation
2. Construction Phase:
   • Support the commercial processes and procedures
   • Prepare commercial reports and forecasts
   • Manage relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
   • Evaluate variations and manage final account projections
   • Assist in progress and interim payments
   • Contribute to monthly commercial reporting
3. General Requirements:
   • Support safety culture and pursue professional qualification

What you'll need

• Working towards a recognized Quantity Surveying qualification
• Previous experience in commercial management
• Experience with main contractors (preferred)
• Ability to work independently and in teams
• Good IT skills, especially in Excel
• Effective communication and commercial skills
