Aldwych Consulting is recruiting an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure contractor on a major long-term programme in Kent. You will work alongside an experienced commercial team to support commercial management and project delivery.

The role offers hands-on exposure to payments, cost reporting, change management, and procurement, with a path to develop skills in cost control and commercial reporting within a busy project environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in contracting/commercial environments.
• Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
• Experience in civil engineering, infrastructure or related sectors.
• Strong understanding of commercial processes.
• Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Willingness to learn and progress within a commercial team.

Responsibilities

• Assist with applications for payment and cost reporting.
• Support cost forecasting, CVRs, and cost-to-complete reviews.
• Help manage changes, variations, and subcontract procurement.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a leading infrastructure contractor working on a major, long-term project in Kent.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS looking to develop their commercial career while working alongside an experienced commercial team on a complex infrastructure programme.

The Role

Working closely with the Senior QS and Commercial Manager, you will support the commercial management and delivery of the project.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the preparation of applications for payment
• Assisting with cost reporting, forecasting and CVRs
• Supporting the management of change and variations
• Assisting with subcontract procurement and administration
• Monitoring project costs and financial performance
• Assisting with commercial reporting and cost-to-complete reviews
• Supporting the identification and management of commercial risk
• Maintaining accurate commercial records
• Working closely with the operational and commercial teams
• Assisting with subcontractor payments and accounts

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working within a contracting/commercial environment
• A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
• Some experience within civil engineering, infrastructure, construction or a related sector
• Good understanding of commercial processes
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• A willingness to learn and progress within a commercial team
