This role is based at our brand new Castlefell School.

Castlefell School is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education. Based in Rudgeway, the school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with complex learning needs, SEMH difficulties, co-existing ADHD, speech, language and communication difficulties, and attachment disorders.

Our clinicians are a crucial part of the most joined-up model in SEND. Across all our specialist schools and children’s homes, we provide unrivalled clinical support, expertise, and breadth of provision. Our young people present with complex needs, including developmental trauma, neuro-developmental conditions, and special educational needs.

As an Assistant Psychologist, you will develop skills in building relationships and engaging children and young people in assessments and interventions under the guidance of a qualified psychologist. You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary clinical team supporting educational and residential colleagues to provide therapeutic environments and, based on clinical assessment and formulation, offer individualized interventions and engagement strategies.

  • Hold a degree (or equivalent) in Psychology, eligible for graduate BPS membership, with coursework related to young people and mental health or autism
  • Have experience working with young people with developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental needs, autism, SEMH, or ADHD
  • Possess resilience to handle challenging situations
  • Have a proactive, team-oriented attitude
  • Exhibit honesty and empathy, caring deeply about young people and colleagues
