An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Property Disposal team for the role of Property Disposal Assistant. There are two positions available, based at Maidstone and Folkestone. Both are on a fixed-term 12-month contract.

The postholder will work closely with external stakeholders to generate funds from the sale of items seized in police operations and redundant force equipment. Responsibilities include receiving, logging, and storing items of seized, found, or unclaimed property under the Property Act, and preparing items for sale to reduce waste and generate income for Kent Police.

You will collaborate with property assistant colleagues to manage the disposal of items no longer deemed evidential, following relevant policies and procedures.

Requirements include a minimum of GCSE standard in English and basic numeracy skills, or at least 2 years of experience in a support service environment. You should be organized, capable of working under pressure, and able to escalate issues appropriately.

Competent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, are necessary. A clean UK driving license is essential, as travel to property stores and locations across Kent is required. Post-appointment, passing in-house Police Permit Tests for various vehicle types will be necessary.

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • On-site fitness centre and canteen (location dependent)
  • Supportive work environment
  • Cycle to work scheme
