Assistant Project Surveyor at BAM Construction

BAM Construction is recruiting an Assistant Project Surveyor to join our team based on projects in the Glasgow area. You will assist with all aspects of surveying and commercial site functions.

Your responsibilities

1. Procurement of subcontract packages
2. Measurement of quantities where necessary
3. Assembling enquiry documentation
4. Obtaining and analyzing quotations and making recommendations
5. Preparing order documentation
6. Assisting in monitoring and making payments to subcontractors
7. Receiving and assessing applications for payment from the supply chain
8. Processing payments within a fixed time scale
9. Commercial control of subcontract packages
10. Contract administration of packages
11. Assisting in value recovery
12. Supporting main contract valuation preparation
13. Assisting in the cost control and reporting process
14. Supporting the agreement of the final account, including valuing changes and finalizing accounts for subcontract packages
15. Supporting project risk and opportunity planning
16. Maintaining a professional approach with clients, professional teams, subcontractors, and suppliers

Who are we looking for?

• BSc or equivalent, or working towards MRICS or equivalent professional level. The company will fully support you in achieving chartered status of the RICS.
• Main contracting experience and a passion for the construction industry
• Experience in quantity surveying within the building industry
• Knowledge of subcontract accounts, procurement, cost monitoring, codes, standards, and specifications
• Negotiation skills
• Methodical approach with strong numeracy skills
• Proactive, enthusiastic, driven with influencing ability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
