Qualifications

  • Experience in demolition or construction sectors.
  • CCDO Manager or CSCS cards.
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Construction Management or related field.
  • Knowledge of SHEQ regulations and procedures.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in heavily regulated environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day management of multiple projects to meet KPIs.
  • Assist with planning and implementation, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and method statements for projects.
  • Monitor compliance with safety, environmental and quality systems.
  • Assist in managing site teams and clear role definitions.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders professionally throughout the project.
  • Support preparation of contract records, variations, and final accounts.
  • Contribute to project performance reports and reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to internal commercial and financial procedures.
  • Support site delivery within programme and budget constraints.
  • Maintain understanding of NEC contract conditions and their application.

Job Title: Assistant Project Manager

Location: Reading

Reporting To: Project Manager / Contracts Manager

Employment Type: Full-time - Permanent (7:30am -5:30pm Monday-Friday - full time on site)

Salary: Competitive - Based on experience

Clearance: Eligibility to obtain SC clearance is essential

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive and reliable Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of demolition and construction projects. This role involves assisting in all phases of project execution with a strong focus on compliance, safety, and programme delivery. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, sound technical understanding, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the day-to-day management of multiple concurrent projects to ensure they are delivered in line with key performance indicators.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of projects, ensuring adherence to all Health & Safety, CDM, and Environmental regulations.
  • Contribute to the development, review, and assessment of in-house and subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Monitor project compliance with company safety, environmental, and quality systems.
  • Assist in managing site teams, ensuring clear communication of roles and responsibilities and alignment with project objectives.
  • Engage professionally with clients and stakeholders, maintaining strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support the preparation of project documentation including contract records, variation agreements, and final accounts.
  • Contribute to the production of project performance reports and participate in monthly financial and programme reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal commercial and financial procedures.
  • Support overall site delivery in line with stringent programme and budget constraints.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of NEC contract conditions and assist in their application.
Key Requirements & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in the demolition or construction sector.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g. CCDO Manager card, CSCS card).
  • HNC/HND/Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline (achieved or working towards).
  • Knowledge of SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment and Quality) regulations and procedures.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (essential).
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a heavily regulated and dynamic project environment.
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic and willingness to adapt to project demands.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Working knowledge of project management software and reporting tools.
  • Experience working under NEC contract frameworks.
  • Experience in both pre-construction planning and on-site delivery.
