Job Description - Assistant Project Accountant (00126517)

Job Title: Senior Assistant Project Accountant

Location: Portsmouth Naval Base. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.

Salary: Up to £45,000 depending on skills & experience.

What you’ll be doing:

• Provide valuable and robust financial support to the project team.
• Produce and develop reports to meet business requirements.
• Support the resolution of project financial issues.
• Develop, promote, and monitor supporting process instructions.
• Monitor financial performance, providing independent and robust financial challenge.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of data provided to customers.
• Coach non-finance employees on financial reports.
• Prepare Summary Status Reports.

Your skills and experiences:

• Experience in project accounting.
• Awareness of MoD Accounting/Contracting requirements.
• Knowledge of Project Lifecycle Management (LCM) Process.
• Experience with Business Systems (SAP/BPC).
• Understanding of Finance Governance requirements, including Financial Controls Framework.
• Part-qualified accountant or qualified by experience within a project environment.

The FMSP Project Finance Team:

The team provides comprehensive project accounting support to the Mod Future Maritime Support Programme, supporting short-term fleet engineering and capital activities as part of the FMSP contract. This involves regular meetings with the Mod customer to articulate the financial position for each activity.
