Assistant Production Manager Step into a leadership role in a dynamic shop floor environment

Location: Feltham, Salary: £32k (negotiable) + Company-wide bonus (circa 40% per year) Job Type: Permanent

Are you ready to take the next step in your production career? We are looking for an Assistant Production Manager to work closely with our Production Manager, supporting factory operations and gradually taking on leadership responsibilities. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a hands-on engineering environment and enjoys problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Production Manager in overseeing factory operations.
• Gradually take on managerial duties, leading sections of the shop floor.
• Work closely with Team Leaders and Supervisors to ensure production efficiency.
• Identify and solve production delays with creative, proactive solutions.
• Foster strong communication between departments, including Procurement, Quality, and Engineering.
• Use MRP systems, including Bills of Materials (BoMs), to track production.
• Ensure accurate interpretation of engineering drawings for manufacturing processes.
• Promote a professional, constructive shop floor culture—balancing authority with approachability.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in a mechanical shop floor engineering environment.
• Familiarity with MRP systems and managing work orders.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong PC skills, particularly Excel (aspirational, not essential).
• Experience in electrical/electronics is an advantage.
• The ability to lead and collaborate with a diverse workforce across all age groups.
• A practical mindset—capable of cutting through distractions to solve problems effectively.
• Assertiveness without being overbearing—someone confident yet professional.
