Location: Bristol -This is a hybrid role with an expected 2 days per week working from Broadcasting House, Bristol.
Salary: £33,000 - £43,000depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

BBC Food is looking for an audience-focused, digital-first Assistant Producer with great social media productions skills and experience, a solid knowledge of cooking and food culture and top organisational skills to join a small, friendly team in beautiful Bristol.
BBC Food is a content platform that inspires and educates home cooks, through video, social media channels, recipes and articles. We inform and educate a mainstream audience on nutrition, budgeting, cooking skills and sustainability. We tell stories that bring people together through a love of our shared food culture – its key moments, communities and most loved dishes.
Working within a specialist team, you’ll be rigorously checking the quality of our content – both in text and video format – to ensure it’s crystal clear and foolproof. You’ll be finding new ways to present trustworthy content that engages audiences and cuts through the noise. You’ll be working with teams inside and outside the BBC to generate the best ideas and see them through to delivery.
Day-to-day work will involve generating ideas for recipes, videos and content strands for social media in line with editorial strategy. To deliver those ideas you’ll be commissioning and creating web content – recipes, video and images – getting the best from influencers and content creators. You’ll be planning, writing and editing engaging social media copy for the target audience on our different platforms.
Within a nimble, multi-disciplinary team you’ll be delivering to tight deadlines and changing requirements while maintaining the highest editorial standards, checking and reporting that all content has appropriate clearances, sign-off and compliance checks. You’ll be working with internal and external stakeholders on the marketing and promotion of content. You’ll be learning from the performance of content and stats to shape new ideas.
You are if you have:
• Great hands-on knowledge of different social media platforms, especially Instagram and YouTube, and how to implement social strategies for each
• Proven interest in and knowledge of food and cookery, with professional experience in editing, proofreading and publishing recipes
• Strong picture and video editing skills, specifically for social media, with desired filming experience
• A clear understanding of the needs and profile of the BBC Food audience and ability to translate this into compelling content ideas
• Strong editorial judgement, accuracy, and editorial sensitivity with understanding of current UK food culture and its diversity
• Effective planning and organisational skills with the ability to deliver on several areas of work at a time
• Strong digital literacy, with experience of using web publishing and editing tools and knowledge of SEO
