Job Description

The Council is seeking an experienced lawyer to fill the role of Lead Regeneration and Property Lawyer in Legal Services. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving forward the council's ambitious programme of regeneration and housing development, playing a lead role in facilitating the delivery of regeneration plans and managing a varied and complex caseload. This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly, committed, and highly regarded in-house legal team and contribute to transformational projects that will enhance the quality of life and sustainability of the borough.

Responsibilities:

• Act as the Lead Regeneration and Property Lawyer to support the council's regeneration and housing development initiatives.
• Facilitate the delivery of regeneration plans by collaborating with colleagues across the council.
• Manage a diverse caseload, including development agreements, property transactions, planning, highways, compulsory purchase, governance, and related issues.
• Provide clear legal advice to various stakeholders.
• Work collaboratively within project teams and adapt to changing priorities.

Requirements:

• Experience in local government is desirable but not essential.
• Strong interest and enthusiasm for local government work.
• Excellent communication and drafting skills.
• Qualified solicitor, barrister, or fellow of the ILEX.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid pattern, attending the office 2-3 days per week.

Additional Requirements:

• Admitted to the SRA or FCilex.
• Proven experience as a practicing lawyer.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good knowledge of legal procedures and regulations.
