Job summary

The Thetford Academy, part of Inspiration Trust, seeks an Assistant Principal for behaviour to join the Senior Leadership Team. You will champion a positive, safe, and inclusive culture, coach staff, and drive high standards of pupil conduct across pastoral teams.

You will lead on data analysis, collaborate with external agencies, and support professional development to improve outcomes for all pupils.

Qualifications

  • An appropriate degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • Proven teacher, leader and educational strategist at appropriate phase level
  • Proven experience of raising standards of behaviour through innovative and collaborative practice
  • Successful involvement in performance management, self-evaluation process / annual development plan
  • Successful experience in leading and managing pedagogic changes at a team, and preferably whole school level
  • Proven practice in leading, motivating and supporting staff to achieve high standards
  • Postgraduate qualification or working towards
  • Direct and successful experience of Ofsted inspection

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of new approaches to behaviour and safety in the school.
  • Ensure pastoral policies are implemented effectively and consistently.
  • Oversee pupils with alternative arrangements and off-site provision.
  • Lead on anti-bullying within the school's programme.
  • Monitor, analyse and act on referrals and academic records.

This role will be based at Thetford Academy, Croxton Road, Thetford, IP24 1LH.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • To work with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to lead the development of new ways of thinking about behaviour and safety across the school.
  • To ensure pastoral policies (e.g. behaviour) are implemented effectively and consistently.
  • To oversee the provision for pupils with alternative arrangements and off-site provision.
  • To lead on Anti-Bullying and ensure that necessary aspects of this are covered within the school's programme.
  • To provide assurance that procedures are undertaken for recording, monitoring, analysing and acting upon a range of data including referrals and academic records.
  • To lead on the analysis of performance data for areas within this remit and generate reports and commentaries as required for various stakeholders.
  • To work with all necessary external agencies to ensure pupils are safe, cared for and supported
  • To assist line management of the staff within pastoral and behaviour teams and ensure these teams work effectively to deliver on school targets and priority areas.

An outstanding Assistant Principal for behaviour is a visionary leader with strong leadership, resilience, and a commitment to fostering a positive, safe, and inclusive school culture. You must exhibit strategic thinking to manage student conduct, effective conflict resolution skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to build, model, and maintain high standards of behaviour among students and staff.

You will be a highly effective coach and mentor, inspiring teachers to refine their practice through constructive feedback, professional development, and collaborative learning.

Above all, you must be passionate about education, relentlessly focused on improving outcomes for every pupil and empowering teachers to deliver exceptional learning experiences.
