Job summary

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT is recruiting an Assistant Practitioner in Mammography for the Doncaster Breast Screening Service. The role is part-time (22.5 hours) and involves working under supervision to deliver high-quality mammography services.

The successful candidate will hold an AP Certificate and have NHS experience, with the ability to operate NBSS/RIS and follow IR(ME)R guidelines, contributing to cancer wait targets and NHS initiatives.

Qualifications

  • AP Certificate of Competence in Mammography and NHS experience required.
  • Proven ability to operate hospital IT systems and mammography equipment.
  • Experience in mammography and NHS Breast Screening Service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake routine radiographic examinations under supervision.
  • Act as operator under IR(ME)R 2017 procedures and follow department protocols.
  • Perform routine mammograms at clinics to a high standard.
  • Operate NBSS and RIS systems for imaging data and reporting.
  • Utilise dexterity for positioning patients and equipment efficiently.
  • Participate in clinical audits and relevant surveys.
  • Assist at breast screening assessment clinics and two week wait initiatives when needed.

Job summary

If so come and visit us in Doncaster where a part time (22.5 hours) permanent post has arisen for an enthusiastic Assistant Practitioner to join our friendly team of Mammographers working within the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Breast Screening Service

Main duties of the job
  • To undertake routine specified radiographic examinations as per achieved competency under the supervision of a senior radiographer and to assist in the delivery of a high quality and accurate service
  • To act as an operator under the Trusts IR(ME)R 2017 procedures and undertake imaging examinations and procedures as per the departments technique protocols.
  • To perform routine mammograms at Breast Screening Clinics to a high standard of technique under the supervision of a senior Radiographer.
  • To operate the National Breast Screening System (NBSS) and RIS (the radiology information system).
  • To utilise a high level of dexterity, necessary for the positioning and manipulation of patients and imaging equipment.
  • To participate in clinical audit and surveys relevant to the role.
  • To assist, when required, at breast screening assessment clinics and symptomatic "one-stop" clinics which support the two week cancer wait targets, or other NHS initiatives.
