Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual who would like to expand their experiences of working within Children and Young People's mental health service. This post will offer opportunities to experience a range of therapeutic interventions as well as learning the vital role of case management in a supportive and friendly environment. This post will include both office and community based work.

It is essential that applicants already have experience of working with children & young people and/or in a community based mental health provision.

Main duties of the job

1. To offer support and therapeutic interventions to Children and Young People who are accessing the service, working under the direct supervision of a case manager or clinical co-ordinators.
2. Devise and implement person centred care therapeutic intervention and promote recovery to meet the needs of the Children and Young People accessing the service.
3. Attend relevant meetings supporting the Young Person where necessary / appropriate.
4. Discuss with other agencies (with agreement from the Young Person) the care package & identify the pathway of support required.

Person specification

Qualifications

• NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.

Knowledge and Expertise

• Knowledge of child-related legislation.
• Ability to write, implement and evaluate Treatment plans.
• Knowledge of Child Protection workings and practice.
• Working knowledge of specialist therapeutic approaches, e.g. cognitive behaviour therapy.
• Knowledge of mental health issues.

Experience

• Experience of working with adolescents.
• Experience of working in a team setting.
• Experience of working within settings relevant to adolescents with additional needs including mental health needs.
• Experience of working with healthcare professionals / previous experience in the NHS.
• Experience of working in a busy and demanding environment.
