Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is recruiting an Assistant Package Manager – FIT OUT to join the Major Projects team at the Old Oak Common station project in North-West London. You will work under the Package Manager to drive delivery of the fit-out package and coordinate interfaces with MEP, lifts, escalators and access requirements.

You will review drawings and specifications, support RFI handling, document risk and permit processes, and help resolve issues on site with a proactive, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building or equivalent.
  • CSCS Card appropriate to the role.
  • SSSTS/SMSTS or commitment to obtain within timeframe.
  • Working knowledge of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, permits and control processes
  • Able to interpret construction drawings, specs and models and apply to site delivery
  • Knowledge of architectural fit-out methods and interfaces
  • Coordinate technical information, design queries and issue resolution
  • Understanding of temporary works, permits and technical assurance requirements

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings, specifications, models and technical requirements and monitor construction works for compliance.
  • Coordinate RFIs, technical queries and design information, maintain trackers and support timely close-out.
  • Support resolution of construction issues by developing practical options and escalating decisions outside delegated authority.
  • Coordinate interfaces with other fit-out packages, MEPH, lifts, escalators, logistics and access requirements.
  • Support the Package Manager and own delegated package activities, ensure actions completed and risks escalated.
  • Collaborate with fit-out team, support functions and supply chain partners to achieve package objectives.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of subcontractors and onboarding, briefings and communications.

Balfour Beatty has another splendid opportunity for an Assistant Package Manager – FIT OUT to join our amazing Major Projects team to work at our iconicOld Oak Commonstation development in North-West London.

HS2’s new c. £1 billion Old Oak Common station will become the UK’s best-connected rail station once completed. Our Balfour Beatty VINCI SYTRA joint venture will be responsible for the final design, construction and commissioning of the station in Northwest London.

Upon completion, the new station will boast six underground platforms and up to eight platforms on the adjacent Great Western Main Line. Old Oak Common will also provide high speed rail services to the Midlands, central London, Scotland and the North, as well as direct services to three major airports. Incorporating passenger and retail facilities, the new station will provide an exceptional customer experience for both passengers and visitors to the station.

What you\'ll be doing
  • Review drawings, specifications, models and technical requirements, and monitor construction works for compliance.
  • Coordinate RFIs, technical queries and design information, maintaining trackers and supporting timely close-out.

  • Support the Package Manager and take ownership of delegated package activities, ensuring actions are completed and risks are promptly escalated.
  • Work collaboratively with the fit-out team, support functions and supply chain partners to achieve package objectives.
  • Coordinate the day-to-day activities of subcontractors and support effective onboarding, briefings and communication.
Who we\'re looking for
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Building or a equivalent discipline.
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card appropriate to the role.
  • Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS), Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS), or a commitment to obtain the required qualification within an agreed timeframe.
  • Working knowledge of Method Statements, Risk Assessments, permits and common construction control processes
  • Able to interpret construction drawings, specifications and models, and apply them to site delivery.
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and interfaces relevant to architectural fit-out.
  • Able to coordinate technical information, design queries and construction issue resolution.
  • Basic understanding of temporary works, permits and technical assurance requirements.
