Our Role
To assist the Merchandiser with ensuring that sales and profit are maximized against agreed Key Performance Indicators. To manage and develop the Merchandise Admin Assistant for your product category.
What you'll be doing
Planning
- Responsible for planning a specific area under the guidance of the Merchandiser.
- Ensure all spreadsheet work and historical analysis are prepared accurately and on time.
- Prepare analysis packs and strategy recommendations for your specific area under guidance.
- Develop new season planning and retail range strategies for your area under guidance.
Trading
- Produce the Monday management pack accurately and by deadline.
- Compile trading priorities weekly for Merchandiser approval.
- Meet critical path dates, identify issues, and propose actions such as repeats, cancellations, or markdowns.
- Maintain a sense of urgency, managing priorities aligned with commercial needs.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, team, call centre, retail, and operations.
- Ensure team awareness of business requirements and activities.
- Review performance regularly across channels and recommend actions to maximize sales and profit.
Retail
- Ensure retail stocks are correctly set and regularly reviewed.
- Review store sales and strategies periodically.
- Supervise stock builds for new stores, ensuring plans are followed and issues addressed.
Commercial Awareness
- Undertake regular store visits, ideally every two months.
- Attend supplier meetings to strengthen relationships and KPIs.
- Produce reports post-visit and implement follow-up actions.
- Conduct competitor visits regularly, report findings, and implement actions.
- Prioritize critical dates and deadlines in planning and trading.
- Deliver excellent customer service standards consistently.
Merchandising Systems
- Develop strong knowledge of all merchandising systems.
- Identify and suggest improvements for workflows and system updates.
- Perform integrity checks to ensure departmental efficiency.
- Maximize use of Sales Reactive Allocation System to boost sales and profit.
Management, Training, and Development
- Review processes regularly and implement improvements.
- Focus on personal development and foster good relationships within the business.
- Assist in training and developing MAA’s.
- Manage the MAA daily.
Skills & Experience
- Excellent Excel skills
- Knowledge of merchandising systems
- Previous experience in a Head Office Merchandising role
