Job summary

Fortnum & Mason plc in London is seeking an commercially minded Assistant Merchandiser to support the Gifting & Jewellery category, driving stock availability and sales growth through forecasting and order management.

You will collaborate with Merchandising, Buying, Commercial Finance, Marketing, Retail and Supply Chain teams to place and chase purchase orders, monitor OTIF targets and report on KPIs such as availability and weeks’ cover.

Responsibilities

• Support sales forecasts using historical data, current trading performance and seasonal trends
• Monitor stock availability to balance sales opportunity and stock risk
• Maintain understanding of Grade A and B lines, including stock levels, orders, pricing, promotions and risks
• Track and report against key merchandising KPIs such as availability, stock holding and weeks’ cover
• Place and manage all purchase orders for the Gifting & Jewellery department
• Proactively chase and expedite orders to achieve On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery targets
• Ensure order data accurately reflects quantities, delivery dates and stock due

Our Head Office department is in the heart of Piccadilly and occupies the 5th & 6th floor of our beautiful flagship store. This central London location offers so much to explore including restaurants, bars, cultural sites, shopping and more, and only a short walk from the Green Park Tube Station and plenty of bus stops.

We are looking for a commercially minded Assistant Merchandiser to support the Gifting & Jewellery category. This role plays a key part in driving stock availability, supporting sales growth and ensuring smooth day-to-day trading through accurate forecasting, order management and strong cross-functional relationships.

You will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the business, including:

• Merchandising and Buying teams
• Commercial Finance, Marketing, Retail, Online and Hospitality teams
• Supply Chain & Distribution Centre
• External suppliers and logistics partners

Trading, Forecasting & Stock Management

• Support the development of sales forecasts using historical data, current trading performance and seasonal trends
• Monitor stock availability to ensure optimal balance between sales opportunity and stock risk
• Maintain a clear understanding of Grade A and B lines, including stock levels, orders, pricing, promotions and risks
• Track and report against key merchandising KPIs such as availability, stock holding and weeks’ cover

Order & Supplier Management
