Job summary

Tagged Resources Recruitment is partnering with a busy design team to recruit an Assistant Menswear Designer for Jerseywear and trend-led fashion. You will support the Senior Designer and help create commercial, best-selling ranges tailored to each retailer's handwriting and customer profile.

We are seeking a candidate with placement experience, a degree in Fashion or Textile Design, strong commercial awareness, and excellent research and trend interpretation skills.

Qualifications

• Placement experience / 1 year in industry.
• Degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design or a related subject.
• Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the UK high-street market.
• Excellent research and trend interpretation skills.
• Proficient in Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop/InDesign knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the Senior Designer in developing commercial jerseywear ranges.
• Researching and identify the latest fashion and retail trends, translating them into relevant design direction.
• Creating inspiring trend direction boards covering colour, shape, fabric and styling details.
• Conducting retailer-specific trend and competitor research to inform design decisions.
• Assisting in identifying new fabric developments and market opportunities, working closely with the factory team to realise fabric newness.
• Preparing for customer meetings by compiling research packs, CADs, fabric swatches and garment samples.
• Attending customer presentations and design meetings alongside the Designer, assisting with note-taking and follow-up actions.
• Drawing and amend CADs using Adobe Illustrator.
• Creating accurate and detailed tech packs following customer selection meetings.
• Working cross-functionally with UK and Pakistan teams to ensure all development queries are communicated clearly and efficiently.
• Tracking garment and fabric developments from concept through sampling stages.
• Helping maintain an organised and efficient design workspace and support the smooth running of the department.
