Tagged Resources Ltd is seeking an Assistant Menswear Designer to join a busy design team in Manchester. You will support the Senior Designer in creating commercially strong jerseywear ranges and translate trends into compelling design directions for UK retailers.

The role involves developing trend boards, CAD work, fabric exploration, and coordinating with UK and Pakistan teams to ensure smooth development from concept to samples.

Qualifications

  • Placement experience or 1 year in industry.
  • Degree or equivalent in Fashion Design, Textile Design or related subject.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the UK high-street market.
  • Excellent research and trend interpretation skills.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator; Photoshop/InDesign knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Designer in developing commercial jerseywear ranges.
  • Research latest fashion and retail trends and translate into design direction.
  • Create trend boards covering colour, shape, fabric and styling details.
  • Conduct retailer-specific trend and competitor research to inform decisions.
  • Identify fabric developments and opportunities, working with factory teams.
  • Prepare for customer meetings with research packs, CADs, fabrics and samples.
  • Attend customer presentations and design meetings, take notes and follow-up.
  • Draw and amend CADs in Illustrator and create detailed tech packs.
  • Coordinate with UK and Pakistan teams to communicate development queries.
  • Track garment and fabric developments from concept to sampling.
  • Maintain an organised design workspace and support department operations.

Job description

The Company:

We are looking for a creative and commercially minded Assistant Menswear Designer to join a busy design team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for Jerseywear and trend-led fashion who is keen to develop their career within a fast-paced supplier environment. The successful candidate will support key accounts, working closely with the Senior Designer, you will help create commercially strong, best-selling ranges tailored to the handwriting and customer profile of each retailer.

Key elements of role are as follows:
  • Supporting the Senior Designer in developing commercial jerseywear ranges
  • Researching and identify the latest fashion and retail trends, translating them into relevant design direction.
  • Creating inspiring trend direction boards covering colour, shape, fabric and styling details.
  • Conducting retailer-specific trend and competitor research to inform design decisions.
  • Assisting in identifying new fabric developments and market opportunities, working closely with the factory team to realise fabric newness.
  • Preparing for customer meetings by compiling research packs, CADs, fabric swatches and garment samples.
  • Attending customer presentations and design meetings alongside the Designer, assisting with note-taking and follow-up actions.
  • Drawing and amend CADs using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Creating accurate and detailed tech packs following customer selection meetings.
  • Working cross-functionally with UK and Pakistan teams to ensure all development queries are communicated clearly and efficiently.
  • Tracking garment and fabric developments from concept through sampling stages.
  • Helping maintain an organised and efficient design workspace and support the smooth running of the department.
Skills & Experience
  • Placement experience / 1 year in industry
