Job summary

Optical Express Group in Edinburgh Haymarket seeks an experienced Assistant Manager to lead the clinic and support surgeons in laser eye, lens replacement and cataract services. You will develop the team, drive operational efficiency and promote the benefits of laser surgery to patients.

The role requires strong management experience in optical/healthcare or hi-end retail, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to training and performance.

Job Title: Assistant Manager

Job Location: Edinburgh, Haymarket

Hours of Work: Full-Time, 40hrs pw, including evenings & weekends

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 doe plus bonus

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager for our Edinburgh Haymarket Eye Hospital, where we use the latest state of the art equipment to provide Laser eye, Lens replacement and cataract consultations and surgery procedures, post op appointments and also contact lens clinics. The successful candidate will work closely with the Clinic and Surgery managers gaining experience in clinical and commercial aspects of our business, whilst also providing support to manage a high performing team.

Key Responsibilities

You will be customer facing and you will help drive performance of the clinic. You’ll also be responsible for the daily operational efficiency of the clinic; a key part of your role will be developing the team and also promoting the benefits of laser surgery to patients.

You will have strong management experience within an Optical, healthcare or hi-end retail setting. You’ll be adept at delivering great results through your passion for people and by working closely with members of your team to develop them through performance management.

It goes without saying that you’ll possess excellent communication and presentation skills, be articulate, motivated to achieve and have a willingness to learn and progress within Optical Express.

Day to day

• In-clinic and telemed consultations, discussing life changing benefits of LVC or IOL surgery
• Ensure the practice is presentable and maintained to the highest standards of tidiness and cleanliness which showcase the professional image of Optical Express
• Help recruit, induct, coach and support your team to ensure all team members meet acceptable levels of knowledge and competence
• Ensure the team influences and advises potential patients on the most suitable and appropriate solution for their needs
