Job summary

Treetops Hospice Trust is seeking a Health Care Assistant to join the Hospice at Home/Roaming Service, delivering compassionate palliative and end-of-life care in the community. The role is predominantly one-to-one night work, requiring initiative and adherence to patient needs with nurse support as needed.

Applicants should have NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, a full UK driving licence with vehicle access, and be prepared for DBS checks and references prior to starting.

Health Care Assistant: Hospice at Home/Roaming Service

We are looking for motivated and passionate persons with previous experience working as a healthcare assistant to join our expanding Hospice at Home Team. The ideal person would already have experience working in the community setting with patients at the end-of-life.The successful applicant will be part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing palliative and end-of-life care to patients and families in the community. Our approach is predominantly one-to-one night shifts, so you will often be working independently using your own initiative in line with patient need and Registered Nurse support, and on occasions you may be required to work as part of a team on the Roaming Service.The applicants need to have NVQ Level 2 or above in Health and Social Care and must be enthusiastic, flexible, and have a passion for palliative and end-of-life care. We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and who demonstrate a caring, empathetic and compassionate nature.We work predominantly across South Derbyshire, covering areas from Swadlincote and up towards Matlock. We particularly encourage applicants who live on the outskirts of South Derbyshire (Ashbourne and Swadlincote), although we welcome people within our catchment area.This role involves working night shifts (22:00-07.00), including weekends and bank holidays. Our night staff currently self-rosters to ensure a good work-life balance is maintained.A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as you will be travelling across the community within the hospice’s catchment area. You will also be expected to drive the Roaming Service vehicle.Treetops Hospice is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults, children and young people.
