Job description
Position: Associate, EMEA Corporate Credit Team

This role sits in the EMEA Corporate Credit Team which is responsible for approving Loans and derivatives transactions across a number of business units. The role will be primarily focused on supporting Nomura's Infrastructure, Acquisition Leveraged Finance (ALF) and Risk Solutions (corporate derivatives) franchises in EMEA. The role is an Associate position within the credit risk team, responsible for due diligence process, portfolio monitoring and assessment of underwriting risk.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct credit due diligence on new transactions including business review, financial analysis, stress cases and financial modelling.
  • Work closely with the origination team.
  • Actively participate in credit discussions, challenging the deal teams and presenting credit views.
  • Evaluate transaction structure, pricing and syndication risk.
  • Produce credit risk memorandum focused on risk and mitigants.
  • Brief senior management and liaise with clients when required.
  • Be involved in loan portfolio management and produce and present ad hoc analysis.
  • Exert credit approval authority in other product areas including Corporate short term financing, private credit, fund financing and stock lending.
  • Work closely with Executive Directors and VPs in the Credit Team, benefiting from ongoing support and training.

Qualifications
  • Background in corporate credit with experience in Infrastructure, desirable but not a pre-requisite.
  • Financial/business qualification such as CFA, Master’s degree, MBA is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a similar credit risk department, deal team, rating agency or credit fund will be considered.

The department is responsible for analysing counterparties, assigning ratings, opining on trade structures and mitigating features, and analysing transactions. We work closely with colleagues in the front office, other areas of risk and in other regions. Each analyst is responsible for a monitoring and managing exposure to a portfolio of counterparties.
