We are the UK's aviation and aerospace regulator and recognised as a world leader in its field. Our activities are diverse, enabling the aviation industry to meet the highest safety standards, and we pride ourselves on our ability to adapt to the constantly evolving aviation environment.

The Role

We are looking for an Assistant Manager with solid financial skills, strong communication and problem-solving capabilities to join our team of finance experts in aviation and travel.

The Aviation & Travel Finance (ATF) function’s activities are diverse and broad in scope in regulating c1,600 ATOL holders. Primarily, this role is concerned with the financial sustainability of the aviation and travel businesses that CAA regulates, including financial supervision and regulatory compliance of the top 100 tour operators under the ATOL scheme. The team also oversees UK-registered airlines and space industry companies, and manages the Air Travel Trust fund, which is set up to protect consumers in case of operator failure.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping regulatory approaches amidst an evolving UK travel and aviation market, addressing short and long-term challenges and opportunities.

As an Assistant Manager, your responsibilities include supporting the management of a portfolio of licensed tour operators, airlines, and space industry companies, performing in-depth financial and business analysis, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policies. You will conduct continuous financial monitoring, build relationships with industry stakeholders, and assist in managing corporate transactions, financial distress, or compliance investigations to ensure consumer protection.

Additional activities involve ad hoc projects, industry data analysis, report production, and documentation of guidelines and procedures.

About You

If you seek a role at the heart of the aviation industry, leveraging your financial expertise, problem-solving skills, and stakeholder influence, this is an excellent opportunity. We are a supportive environment committed to our mission of protecting consumers and ensuring safety. If this resonates with you, we encourage you to apply.

Essential
  • Strong numerical and problem-solving skills for high-quality financial analysis.
  • At least an intermediate accounting or finance qualification (e.g., part-qualified accountant) or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of financial statements, KPIs, and financial concepts.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to present issues and recommendations clearly.
  • Effective workload management with attention to accuracy.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and financial modeling.
  • Team-oriented mindset within aviation and travel finance.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of policy and regulatory issues affecting UK airlines and travel organizers.
  • Experience in credit control or financial analysis.
Additional Information

This role requires National Security Vetting and appropriate clearance, which necessitates the right to work in the UK. For more details on BPSS clearance, please visit the official site.
