Job summary

Halfords is seeking an Assistant Manager at our Stafford Autocentre to support the Centre Manager in delivering high-quality vehicle services and customer experiences. You will spend time in the workshop alongside technicians while also driving daily sales, training staff, and overseeing service standards.

The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, a Level 2/3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, and a track record of coaching teams to achieve results.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to deliver high levels of customer satisfaction through effective management and leadership.
• Experience in coaching, training, and developing colleagues in the moment.
• Strong technical/mechanical knowledge, ideally with a Level 2/3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of workshop operations, diagnostics and vehicle maintenance processes.
• Bring your own tools and use them in a busy workshop.
• Experience maintaining Health & Safety compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• IT proficient, with the ability to learn in-house systems.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Full, valid driving licence.

• Divide time between workshop activity and supporting daily sales and customer service.

As an Assistant Manager, you’ll work alongside the Centre Manager to provide productive management and leadership, driving profitability, with firm focus on the customers journey. You will have had previous hands‑on experience as a mechanic or management experience in a similar environment as you will be dividing your time between the workshop, working alongside the technicians, and assisting the Centre Manager with daily sales and customer service.

• On-target earnings up to £40,357.
• Comprising a base salary of £32,957.

What we’re looking for:
