Job summary

Upham Inns is seeking an Assistant Manager to help deliver a premium guest experience across our pubs in Southern England. You’ll be on the floor, driving day-to-day operations, taking ownership of issues, and supporting the General Manager to grow the business.

You should bring supervisory hospitality experience, strong leadership, and excellent interpersonal skills. The role requires evening and weekend work as part of a hands-on, growth-oriented team.

Responsibilities

• Deliver guest experiences at a high level with consistency across shifts.
• Oversee food and beverage operations and KPI performance.
• Recruitment and staff development; HR responsibilities.
• Manage stock controls and wastage to protect profitability.
• Open and close the business and ensure smooth daily operations.

A job you can enjoy As our Assistant Manager, you will help to create a special atmosphere for guests. You will still be out there on the floor, right at the heart of the action - but you'll be more than just 'one of the team'. While the General Manager drives the business, it is you that manages the day-to-day running of the business… You'll need to take ownership of problems, and you'll live by a mantra of 'always doing the right thing' - sometimes needing to think outside the box. Supporting the General Manager is a great way to learn the business side of running a pub. It is a chance to develop your skills and gain the knowledge you need to progress your career even further.
