Job summary

Express Recruitment are partnering with a Midlands-based commercial law firm to recruit an Assistant Management Accountant. The role focuses on month-end, financial reporting, and providing insights to senior leadership in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will join a high-performing finance team offering a competitive £28,000 - £32,000 salary and a benefits package including 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, private medical insurance, study support, and strong progression

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar Accountant role.
• Sound understanding of accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, journals and variance analysis.
• AAT qualification or studying towards ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
• Experience supporting month-end and year-end reporting in a busy finance function (professional services/legal sector advantageous).
• Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver accurate month-end support, including schedules for fixed assets, prepayments, accruals and journals.
• Prepare initial drafts of monthly management accounts and variance analysis with insights.
• Produce operational performance data to support decisions (WIP, chargeable time, targets).
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and assist with VAT and regulatory submissions.
• Support cashflow monitoring, partner reconciliations and drawings preparation.
