Job summary

Kier Group is seeking an Assistant Commercial Accountant to support the Residential Solutions finance team. Flexible location with hybrid working and some travel to offices/sites as required.

You will assist with weekly/monthly reporting, cash forecasts, balance sheet reconciliations and cost control, collaborating with Commercial and Operational teams to deliver accurate financial information.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Finance or Accounting role, preferably in a commercial or contract environment.
• Excellent Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and sumifs, with ability to manage and analyse large data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with inquisitive approach to financial information.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to build relationships across teams.
• Methodical and organised, able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines, work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support weekly and monthly financial reporting, including trading performance and cost analysis.
• Prepare weekly cash forecasts and manage invoice tracking for timely payments.
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations and assist month-end processes.
• Assist with contract mobilisations, quarterly forecasts, and annual plans.
• Provide analytical support on WIP, debt analysis and cost control.

We're looking for an Assistant Commercial Accountant to join our Residential Solutions team.

Location: Flexible on Location - Hybrid working available with travel to offices and sites as required

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30 - 17:00 - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us.

Kier is seeking an Assistant Commercial Accountant to support our finance team in delivering accurate financial and management information. You'll provide vital front-line support to our Residential Solutions team, which delivers planned and responsive maintenance works across a variety of clients. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with management teams, develop your analytical skills, and contribute to efficient financial operations.

What will you be responsible for?

• Supporting the business with weekly and monthly financial reporting, including trading performance, cost analysis, and cash conversion
• Preparing and maintaining weekly cash forecasts and managing invoice tracking to ensure timely payment processes
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations and supporting month-end processes through cost journals and variance reports
• Assisting with contract mobilisations, quarterly forecasts, and annual business plans
• Providing analytical support to Commercial and Operational teams, including WIP, debt analysis, and cost control activities

What are we looking for?

• You have demonstrable experience in a Finance or Accounting role, preferably within a commercial or contract environment
• You possess excellent Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and sumifs, with the ability to manage and analyse large volumes of data
• You have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with an inquisitive approach to understanding financial information
• You demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams
