Job summary

BTG Recruitment seeks an Assistant Management Accountant for its Burton upon Trent site. The role develops your accounting scope with exposure to stock, costing, operational reporting and business partnering, reporting to the Financial Controller and Management Accountant.

You will support month-end, journals, reconciliations and reporting, with study support toward CIMA/ACCA and a path into a Management Accountant role within an international group. One day per week work from home is offered.

Qualifications

• Studying towards CIMA/ACCA or AAT qualified.
• Experience with month-end and reconciliations.
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, or related sectors is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support weekly accounting and the month-end process.
• Prepare journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Complete balance sheet and stock reconciliations.
• Produce daily reports covering sales, stock and adjustments.
• Prepare KPI reports for finance and operational managers.
• Investigate manufacturing costs and variances.
• Support stock takes and stock provisions.
• Review expenditure with third party logistics providers.
• Assist with the year end audit and respond to audit queries.
• Attend meetings with the site management team.
• Turn large volumes of data into useful financial information.
• Support improvements to reporting, processes and controls.

Assistant Management Accountant

Up to £41,000 plus full study support

Ready to move beyond routine accounting and build genuine experience in manufacturing finance?

BTG Recruitment is working with a successful international manufacturing group to recruit an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant for its Burton upon Trent site.

This is a broad development role for someone who already understands the fundamentals of month end and now wants greater exposure to stock, costing, operational reporting and business partnering.

Working closely with the Financial Controller and Management Accountant, you will become part of the site finance team and gain a clear understanding of how financial performance connects with production and operational activity.

What will you be doing?

• Supporting weekly accounting and the month end process
• Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments
• Completing balance sheet and stock reconciliations
• Producing daily reports covering sales, stock and adjustments
• Preparing KPI reports for finance and operational managers
• Investigating manufacturing costs and variances
• Supporting stock takes and the calculation of stock provisions
• Reviewing expenditure with third party logistics providers
• Assisting with the year end audit and responding to audit queries
• Attending meetings with the site management team
• Turning large volumes of data into useful financial information
• Supporting improvements to reporting, processes and controls

What are we looking for?

You will ideally be studying towards CIMA or ACCA, or be AAT qualified and ready to begin a professional qualification.

You should have practical experience of:

• Supporting month end
• Posting journals, accruals and prepayments
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations
• Producing financial or operational reports
• Analysing data using Excel
• Working accurately and meeting reporting deadlines

Experience within manufacturing, food, FMCG, automotive, engineering, logistics or distribution would be particularly relevant.
Exposure to stock accounting, standard costing, bills of materials, purchase price variances, manufacturing variances or Navision would be advantageous but is not essential.

Just as importantly, you will be curious, enthusiastic and keen to progress. You should enjoy understanding the story behind the numbers and be confident working with people outside finance.
