Job summary

The Fragrance Shop in Manchester is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team. The role involves hands-on involvement in monthly and annual reporting, with the scope to contribute to management decision making as the business grows.

You will support the needs of a fast-paced retail finance function while developing professional accreditations and gaining practical exposure to financial systems and processes. Based at Fragrance Quarters, Trafford Park, Manchester.

Qualifications

• Proficient with Excel and MS Office for reporting and analysis.
• Effective written and verbal communication essential.
• Organised and methodical with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to remain accurate while multi-tasking under pressure.
• Driven to succeed in a fast-paced retail finance team.
• Experience in a busy finance department desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the production of monthly management accounts in a multi-channel format.
• Take accounting responsibility for key overhead areas and provide insightful analysis.
• Support daily sales postings and tender reconciliations.
• Assist with Balance Sheet reconciliations and key controls.
• Take on ad hoc duties to widen experience across the Finance department.

Role overview:

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced, results-driven organisation where innovation and a practical, solution-oriented approach are critical. As a key member of the finance team, the successful candidate will contribute to monthly & annual reporting and the ad-hoc provision of information to support management decision making. In addition, they will support the demands of the business in this exciting phase of growth, shaping changes to critical financial systems and processes within the organisation.

The role will suit someone who wants to develop and gain a financial qualification whilst gaining excellent hands-on experience and commercial exposure in a busy retail finance function.

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of the management accounts team to assist in the production of monthly management accounts in a multi-channel reporting format
• Accounting responsibility for key overhead areas and providing insightful analysis
• Assisting with the daily sales postings and other tender reconciliations
• Assisting with Balance Sheet reconciliations and other key controls
• Ad hoc duties assisting across the Finance department (to widen experience and knowledge base)

Qualifications/Experience/Skills:

• Good working knowledge of Excel & MS Office
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
• Organised and methodical with an excellent eye for detail and the ability to multi-task
• Can work well under pressure
• Driven to succeed
• Previous experience of working in busy finance department.
• Good academic background, ideally degree level
• Study support towards a recognised professional accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA) may be available for the right candidate, subject to business requirements and performance
