Job summary

Thomas Franks in Hook Norton is seeking an Assistant Management Accountant to join our finance team. This role offers exposure to transactional accounting and commercial/operational finance, with opportunities to develop toward professional qualifications.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience, an AAT qualification or in the latter stages, and strong Excel skills. A dynamic team environment and clear progression paths are highlighted.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification or currently in the later stages is required.
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable with Word/Outlook.
• Experience with MS Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities are essential.

Responsibilities

• Process accounting entries on client accounts and raise invoices.
• Reconcile accruals and deferrals, analyze variances.
• Provide financial analysis and support to Operations teams.
• Act as a point of contact for client finance teams.
• Support month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and budgets.
• Assist with accounts payable and sales ledger tasks as needed.
• Support ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting requests.
• Assist with fleet management and expense claim processing.

Job description

Our head offices based in the beautiful village of Hook Norton near Banbury. Here you will find our teams of finance, HR, purchasing, marketing & creative that support all of our locations across the Thomas Franks family. There is ample parking space available when visiting.

Thomas Franks is looking for an ambitious Assistant Management Accountant to join our dynamic team based in Hook Norton. The role will suit somebody who has already started a career in finance and is looking to continue to develop and qualify. The role will provide exposure to transactional accounting as well as commercial and operational exposure.

Main responsibilities:

• Processing accounting entries on clients' accounts.
• Reconciling accruals and deferral accounts.
• Analysing variances and performance of client accounts, drawing insight and discussing with Operations teams.
• Supporting operations on financial analysis required on ad-hoc basis.
• Acting as a direct point of contact for our clients finance teams.
• Raising sales invoices and distributing to operations and client.
• Management of client accounts.
• Monthly Reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts.
• Involvement in budget setting and analysis to support.
• Cash and banking reconciliations.
• Overhead analysis.
• Processing of expense claims.
• Assistance with the management of the company fleet.
• Supporting other areas of the finance department such as accounts payables and sales ledger.
• Other ad-hoc duties to support team objectives.

• Ability to work on your own initiative and work well within a team.
• To be able to engage effectively with others in a professional, unbiased and discreet manner.
• Able to provide attention to detail, work under pressure, have excellent communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal).
• Personal attributes include reliability, honesty, loyalty and self-motivation.
• A competent user of a PC - MS office i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Ambition to develop and improve skills and knowledge.
• Willingness to learn new skills and responsibilities.

Qualifications and experience:

• AAT qualification or latter stages
• At least 3 years relative experience
• Ideal but not essential Microsoft Business Central experience
• Proficient in using Microsoft excel
