Hays Accountancy & Finance in Gloucester is recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant/Management Accountant to join a growing finance team. You will support the Head of Finance and help produce monthly management accounts and detailed financial schedules.

The role covers accruals, prepayments, journals, P&L and balance sheet analysis, budgeting and forecasting, variance analysis and ad-hoc reports. Remote/office hybrid working (3 days on-site, 2 days remote) is available.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar Assistant/Management Accountant role.
• Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and reconciliations.
• Active study toward ACCA/CIMA/AAT with commitment to ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
• Post accruals, prepayments and journals.
• Support P&L and balance sheet analyses; assist budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Produce ad-hoc financial reports and analysis.
• Assist year-end statutory accounts and audit preparation.

Your new company Hays Accountancy & Finance are exclusively partnering with a successful & growing services business to recruit a dynamic & hands-on Assistant Management Accountant/Management Accountant to join their established close-knit team in Gloucester, Gloucestershire.

The position is a newly created growth role reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

The role provides broad exposure across the finance function within a dynamic business.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and colleagues across the business, supporting day-to-day financial operations while continuing their professional development.

This permanent role is best suited to a driven, part-qualified finance professional currently studying ACCA/CIMA/AAT, study package for finance qualifications will be provided.

Candidates qualified by experience will also be considered.

Your new role Supporting the Head of Finance, you will assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, posting accruals, prepayment, journals and supporting schedules.

You will support profit/loss and balance sheet analysis, assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, along with producing ad-hoc financial reports/analysis.

You will assist with year-end statutory accounts, year-end audit preparation and compliance, prepare balance sheet reconciliations, cash flow reporting and monitoring.

You will be involved in both purchase ledger and sales ledger processes, from processing supplier invoices, reconciling supplier statement runs, creditor reporting to raising customer invoices, allocating customer receipts, supporting credit control activity, aged debt reviews and resolving accounts/billing queries.

You will perform daily bank reconciliations, process bank transactions, reconcile control accounts and investigate unreconciled items.

You will support finance process improvement, business partner with operational, billing & sales teams, be involved in ad-hoc projects and provide finance support across all areas of the business.

What you'll need to succeed To be considered for this varied and hands-on Assistant Management Accountant/Management Accountant role, you will need experience in a similar position, ideally part-qualified CIMA/ACCA studying towards full qualification.

Candidates qualified by experience will be considered.

You will have a strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, key MS Excel skills, financial analysis and reconciliation skills, along with strong communication skills to build both internal/external relationships.

You will be used to managing workloads to meet deadlines, comfortable working independently within a close-knit accounting team with excellent attention to detail.

You will be adaptable to business needs, willing to learn and support in a broad and varied finance role.

It would be advantageous if you have experience with integrated billing systems, experience working within the utilities services sector with knowledge of month-end reporting and preparing for external audits.
